Private Music Lesson Conservatory
Payment and Attendance Guidelines
1.Lessons are PRE-PAID. All students will pay at the first lesson of the month for the entire month of lessons. NO EXCEPTIONS!! KBBA can not carry account balances for lessons!
2.Please make checks payable to KBBA. Memo/Subject Line: Student name & month of lessons. Payment should be placed in the KBBA drop box in the band room by the director’s office.
3.Students and Instructors are expected to attend a minimum of 3 lessons per month. (One cancellation each). Most months will have 4 lessons.
4.If an instructor needs to cancel, they must contact each student as well as the KBBA rep at least 24 hours in advance. (Exceptions for extreme emergencies)
5.If a student needs to cancel, they must contact their lesson teacher (NOT the Band Directors). Exceptions for extreme emergencies. If the teacher is not contacted 24 hours in advance, it will be considered a NO-SHOW and the lesson will be charged by the instructor.
6.If an instructor or student cancels, they are expected to make up the lessons within the same month, unless the cancellation occurs during the last week, in which case it can be made up during the following month.
7.You can “make-up” lessons by either adding a lesson to the month or extending 1 or 2 lessons.
8.Some lessons may be held on Cobb County Teacher work days. These will be reviewed on a monthly basis with Mr. McGrath and the KBBA Rep will notify parents/students through email.
9.Lessons will be held on Early Release days.
10.In the case that a student or instructor has several Cancellations or No-shows, they will be contacted by the KBBA rep via email, phone, or letter to help solve the conflicts. If after initial contacts by KBBA they may be asked to re-evaluate their commitment to the musical learning process, or be asked to leave the conservatory.
11.Students studying privately are expected to attend each lesson with all necessary musical equipment, including any necessary sheet music, instrument and pencil.
12.Students are expected to practice assignments during the week between lessons and be prepared to perform assigned material during their lesson.
13.Students are expected to come to their lesson early enough to warm-up properly before their lesson.

Patrick Clark - Baritone/Euphonium/TBone
Patrick Clark is a private brass instructor and music teacher in the Metro-Atlanta area. Mr. Clark received a bachelor of music education degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV in 2005. While at WVU, he was the principal euphoniumist with the Wind Symphony, and twice was featured as a soloist with this group. Also a very active jazz musician, he did lead and solo trombone work with the Jazz Ensemble 1 and many small jazz combos. He studied privately on trombone and euphonium with Dr. Keith Jackson, conducting with Lawrence Christianson, and jazz improvisation with Paul Scea.
While he was attending WVU, Mr. Clark accepted a position playing baritone with the River City Brass Band in Pittsburgh, PA, and continued performing professionally with the band after graduation. He performed as soloist on two concert series playing trombone and baritone. Later he became the publishing coordinator and librarian for the band.
Mr. Clark’s work as a freelance musician includes the Balcony Big Band, the Roger Humphries Big Band, and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. He has been heard in performances with the Canadian Brass, Boston Brass, Arturo Sandoval, Maynard Ferguson, and the “President’s Own” Marine Band. He can be heard playing trombone and euphonium on the 2005 self-titled CD “Adam Evil and the Outside Royalty”, a rock band based in London, England. In 2006, he was a guest artist with the Pittsburgh Philharmonic performing Herman Bellstedt’s “Napoli”.
After moving to Georgia, Mr. Clark was an assistant band director at Tapp Middle School in Cobb County and has since accepted the position of Music Specialist at Pitner Elementary School. He is currently on the Marching Band Staff at Kell and McEachern High Schools and directs the Jazz Ensembles at McEachern as well. Past teaching positions include elementary/middle school band director with the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese and the assistant conductor of the Pittsburgh Youth Pops Orchestra.
