“It just reminds you what is important in life.”
Those were Mr. McGrath’s words as he watched the fire department hit hot spots on the remains of his home. Unfortunately, lightning from recent storms caused a fire at the McGrath’s home taking the roof and the top floor. All escaped unharmed, including all the family pets, and they are all well. This fire leaves the McGrath family displaced for the next 10-12 months. While many of us may have an emergency fund, few of us are prepared for the devastating blow of losing everything in an evening. As you can imagine, however, there is a lot to be done to put their lives back together.
A tax exempt organization, Helping Hands Ministries, has kindly established a fund which will accept tax deductible donations in order to assist the McGrath family. Checks should be made payable to:
Helping Hands Ministries
135 Main Street
P.O. Box 337
Tallulah Falls, GA 30573
In the memo portion of the check, please indicate it is for the McGrath Family Relief Fund. If you wish to donate via the Internet, please follow these instructions:
Go to the Helping Hands Ministries website at www.hhmin.org. Select Donate Now (on left side), then select Donate to a Helping Hands Ministries Approved Project. On Project Category click the drop down arrow to select Financial Hardship Projects, then on Project click down arrow and then scroll down to the McGrath Family Relief Fund. Complete the remaining information. Any Questions or assistance needed call 706-754-6884.
There will be many opportunities for us to lend a hand going forward and we will continue to keep in touch in that regard. If there are any ways in which you personally would like to give of your time, talent, or resources, please feel free to contact any KBBA board member. Their contact information can be found at www.kbba.org.
Thank you for pulling together as a community and sharing what it is like to be family and keep the McGrath family in your thoughts and prayers.
